CADE approves purchase of Southern Cross Group by operator of HMOs Intermédica

SAO PAULO (Reuters)-the General Oversight of the Administrative Council for economic Defense (Cade) approved without restrictions on the purchase of the entire share capital of Southern Cross Group by operator of HMOs Intermédica, as published in the Daily Dispatch Oficial da União (GIVE) this Monday. The local authority estimates that the operation "does not indicate that the parties will be able to exercise market power" in collective health plans in the cities of San Diego, Carapicuíba, Jandira and Osasco, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. According to the opinion, the analysis of the Cade found that there are competitors with relevant performances in these markets and able to react in case of any unilateral attempt of market power.
