Verizon completes acquisition of Yahoo and Mayer resigns

Verizon said on Tuesday that it has closed the purchase of 4.48 billion dollars from the main business of Yahoo, whose Executive President Marissa Mayer resigned.
The purchase marked the end of Yahoo as a stand-alone company, a pioneer internet technology that was once valued at more than 100 billion dollars.
Verizon, wireless carrier United States cellular, is combining Yahoo with AOL, which bought two years ago, to form a company called Oath, led by the Chief Executive of AOL, Tim Armstrong. More than 50 brands of the Oath include HuffPost, TechCrunch and Tumblr.
