Number of Airbnb users in Brazil reaches 1 million in 2016

São Paulo – the online hosting service recorded more than 1 Airbnb million arrivals at Brazil in 2016, driven by the demand generated by the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and by a growing number of hosts who seek extra income amid the recession in the country.
Leonardo Tristao, Director General of the Brazil cited the Airbnb brand in a statement sent to the press on Monday, which marked a jump before the approximately 421,000 arrivals in 2015 and about of 662,000 in the 12 months to June.
The Brazilian market for Airbnb fired in August when more than 85000 guests arrived in Rio de Janeiro during the Olympic Games, whose organizers have designated the American service as official partner of accommodation. The recession in the country has also made more people to seek income offering real estate service.
Previously, had announced 80 million record Airbnb of guests in the world in 2016, up from 40 million in 2015.
Tristan also announced for June arrival of travel service "Trips" in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in a strategy of diversification of revenue beyond the mere lodging.
In addition to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City and Buenos Aires are also on the list of destinations in Latin America that receive the Trips, said the company.
