European Commission approves merger of DuPont and Dow Chemical, through sale of assets

The European Commission authorised on Monday (27), with conditions, the merger between the American groups Dow Chemicals and DuPont, whose value in the stock market would reach 130 billion dollars.
"With today''s decision we mourned for the merger between Dow and DuPont does not affect the price competition for existing pesticides, or innovation," said the European Commissioner for competition, Margrethe Vestager.
The authorisation of Brussels is conditional on "transfer of an important part of the global activity of DuPont in the field of pesticides, including your world research and development structure," said the Commission.
