E-commerce prices Fall 1.95%

E-commerce prices registered deflation of 1.95% in February, compared with the same period in 2016, points the FIPE Index rocket. This is the third month followed by deflation, after a series of 21 months of high prices. Compared to January 2017, prices recorded high of 0.84%. Among the 148 categories monitored by the index, 88 of them have registered price increases in February, compared with the same period last year. Deflation, however, was driven by lower handset prices expressive and smartphones, which was 11%. Other categories also recorded sharp downturn were photography ( -4.09%), data processing ( -2.41%), electronics ( -2.05) and fashion and accessories ( -1.37%).
General price inflation General prices, as measured by the consumer price index (IPCA), the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE) was 4.76 percent in the last 12 months ending in January, which shows that the prices of e-commerce had variation of-6.4% General saving prices.
