High sales in 2018 will be higher, probably to 2 digits, predicts Anfavea

SAO PAULO-the President of the National Association of Automotive vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea), Antonio Mann said this Wednesday, 6, that the new vehicle market in 2018 should have growth higher than expected for 2017. He said sales this year should be released around 9%, slightly above the official projection of the Association, of 7.3%, and that, next year, the increase must be two digits. The official estimate for 2018 should only be disclosed in early January.
He considered, however, that it is not easy to perform estimates for next year because of political instability. Still, expect a more robust economy in 2018, especially if pension reform is approved.
"He's bringing a pro investor confidence level much higher," said the Executive. "But we live great political instability this year and the economy is showing signs of detachment from politics," he added.
Election
On the election, Mann admitted that the election will be "much disputed", but believes that the process will be peaceful and democratic institutions. "And that way there is less interference in the economy," he said.
Financing
The President of Anfavea also commented the release of credit for vehicle financing and said that the reduction is coming to an end consumer. "However, more slowly than we would like, there is room to fall further," said the Executive, who said understand that banks are wary and the buyer doesn't want to be in debt too.
2030 route
Mann said he expects the Government to publish this December, the legal framework of the new industrial policy for the automotive sector, which was named Route 2030 and will replace the Innovate-Auto, which expires on 31 December 2017.
He explained, however, that the legal framework will not bring details of how the new policy will work, but will be a document that will ensure that the program will be created and what are its foundations. "It's good to remember that the Route 2030 starts now, but does not end now," said the Executive, in the press conference.
Mann also ensured that the Route 2030 will not have the requirements to automakers that are in the Innovate-Auto and were condemned by the World Trade Organization (WTO), which are the existence of a basic productive process in Brazil and the purchase of parts from local suppliers, measures not could be met by importers and, therefore, had to pay more taxes.
"We have a system of license which can be fulfilled by domestic and imported vehicles. Anything you enter in the 2030 Route will be at odds with what the WTO is putting, "he said.
WTO
Despite this, Mann used the news conference to criticize the WTO condemnation, to emphasize that the Organization failed requirements that favored domestic production. "We are doomed for having supported the national auto industry, by generating employment and income for the Brazilians," he said.
The President of Anfavea also returned to comment on the trade agreement with Colombia. The negotiations creep since 2016, but, according to Mann, the arrangement will be completed this December.
