Bayer plans to increase offer to buy Monsanto

The German pharmaceutical group Bayer announced early on Tuesday that it is prepared to increase the offer to buy the American rival Monsanto.
In a statement, Bayer reports that considers raising the offer to 127.5 dollars per share, against $ 125 offered initially. The proposal would raise the value of the transaction to nearly 66 billion dollars, including debt.
The previous offer from Bayer was rejected in July by the American company, which considered "financially inadequate and insufficient". Monsanto, however, said that he hoped to continue with the negotiations.
The German company has indicated that it does not intend to carry out a hostile takeover.
An agreement between the two groups would create the world''s leader in genetically modified seeds and pesticides.
At the same time, the Monsanto tries to acquire the Swiss Syngenta group a year ago, as well as the BASF agrochemical unit, according to Bloomberg.
BASF could play a role to help Monsanto before the claims of Bayer, reported the Agency in July.
