Flow of visitors to shopping centers back up 6.78% in a year

The flow of visitors in the shopping centres of the country retreated 6.78 percent in May compared with the same month last year, according to the index Index of visits to Shopping malls (ANTONYSAMWEL), which in partnership with Abrasce FX Flow Intelligence, company specialized in the retail stream monitoring.
The South recorded the largest indentation, with retraction of 11.88 percent in the period. The Northeast had a decrease of 6.65% and Southeast fell 4.9% in visitors.
In the year to date, the decline is 5.29% from 2015. In comparison to April 2016, there has been a slight fall of 0.9% in the number of people in the malls.
According to Abrasce, even mother''s day, considered one of the leading national retail dates, helped in increasing the flow of consumers in shopping centers.
"The ANTONYSAMWEL Index mirrors the reality faced by Brazilian retailers currently. Even with an important date on the calendar, the month of may did not have a good performance in sales for trade and, consequently, there was no increase in the flow of people, "says Marcelo Tavares, CEO of FX Flow Intelligence.
