Repellent sales grow 50% in 2015

Last year, sales increased by repellents 50%, with a view to the epidemics of dengue, chikungunya and zika. According to data from Nielsen, in December 2015 sales went up 230% and 115% in volume, compared to the same period of 2014. The category totaled revenues of more than 217 million R$ last year.
Both the growth in volume (55%) and value (88%) of insect repellents is much more significant in the last four months of 2015 that the variation of the year (32.5% and 49.5%). "Only in the interior of Sao Paulo, last year, sales have risen more than 100% due to the outbreak of dengue fever. Now, with the zika, the numbers will increase, "says João Otavio Silva, market analyst from Nielsen.
