Brazilian economy plummets 3.8% in 2015, the biggest fall in 25 years

Rio de Janeiro, Mar 3 (AFP)-2016 the brazilian economy, the seventh largest in the world, had a severe contraction of 3.8% in 2015, the biggest in 25 years, taking into account the historical series, announced on Thursday the IBGE.
The GDP is the biggest of the current historical series started in 1996 and also the most important since 1990, when it was in effect another series and the economy kicked 4.3 percent, said the IBGE. The GDP of the fourth quarter of last year kicked 1.4% compared to the previous one.
The Brazil gets the second-worst economic performance in all of Latin America, after Venezuela''s, which would have been a landslide of the GDP on the order of 10% in 2015, according to the IMF, and if the forecasts are confirmed, it is the worst performance among his fellow Club members of emerging powers Brics (integrated by Brazil, China, Russia, South Africa , India).
PolíticosApós factors a spectacular growth of 7.5% in 2010, amid the boom in commodity prices and social programs that took 30 million Brazilians out of poverty and stimulated consumption, GDP grew 3.9 percent in 2011, 1.9% in 2012, 3% in 2013 and only 0.1% in 2014.
The falling prices of commodities by China''s slow-down and by the mega corruption scandals and the political crisis that shook the Government of Dilma Rousseff froze the economy.
"The economic recession is caused by more political than economic factors: the political crisis, the deadlock between the Executive and the legislature, corruption, all that is undermining the confidence of the business community, consultants and is paralyzing businesses and the brazilian economy," he told AFP Margaret Gutiérrez, Professor of Macroeconomics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
"You never saw in brazilian economy a fall of this magnitude for two consecutive years (...). This year will be worse than last year, it is expected that from 2017 or 2018 there is perhaps a positive growth rate, more by inertia, "commented.
The result of the GDP in 2015 if seen affected by the fall of 6.2% of brazilian industry, the worst annual result in the series started in 1996, the contraction of 14.1% of investments, 4% of household consumption, of 2.7% and a growth of only 1.8% of the agricultural sector.
The worst recession in a séculoApós the contraction of 3.8% in 2015, the market casts a setback in GDP of 3.45% in 2016 and the IMF anticipates a stagnation to 2017. If these data are confirmed, it would be the worst economic contraction in the country in a century.
"The Brazil never went through a level of uncertainty so high and that everything freezes. There is no investment or consumption, no credit with this level of uncertainty, which is historic (...) (...) All political and fiscal problems won''t dissipate easily in the next few years, "said Daniel wedge, an analyst at XP Investimentos in Sao Paulo.
"We work with the scenario that in 2016 there will be a slumping economy the order of 4.3%. There is a possibility that 2015 has not been the worst year, "he said.
Rousseff faces a contraction of economic activity, a fiscal deficit, double-digit inflation and growing unemployment.
Its popularity is in just 11%, the opposition calls for his dismissal, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal to investigate for illegal financing of his campaign for re-election and Congress takes to approve his plan.
All of this adds up the mega scandal of corruption at Petrobras, which have hit the economy led to jail industrialists, bankers and figures of the workers '' Party (PT) and its allies.
The Brazilian GDP kicked 1.4% in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the previous one. In the first quarter of 2015, the contraction was 0.8%, in the second of 2.1% and 1.7% in the third, always in relation to previous quarters.
The decline in savings in 4° quarter of 2015 was 5.9% compared to the same period in 2014.
