Sale of candy on Halloween is good sign on u.s. economy

New York-u.s. consumers don''t need to dress up for Halloween — with regard to the economy in 2016, they''re superheroes.
A number of economic factors is helping American consumers this year and a new report from IHS Global Insight points out that the amount expected to be spent on Halloween Candy is the perfect symbol of this force.
"Overall, real consumer spending has been relatively strong since Halloween past due to modest inflation of consumer prices, the low gas prices, the best job opportunities and the improvement of household finances," says Chris Christopher, Director of consumer economics of IHS Global Insight.
In fact, the team hopes that spending with candy on Halloween has the strongest increase since 2011, climbing 5,5%, for $ 3.8 billion.
In 2014 and 2015, with sweet Halloween spending climbed 5% and 1,7%, respectively. The report defined the expense with candy on Halloween as personal consumption expenditure estimated for October, seasonally adjusted, in candy and gum.
