Study points to 2.6% indent on packaging production

The physical production of the packaging sector fell 2.59% in the first half of 2015 before the same interval last year, when indentation was 1.35%.
In the first six months of this year, just in June there was growth of 0.99 percent. The data were released by the Brazilian Association of packing (OPEN), in a study with the seal of the Brazilian Institute of Economics of Fundação Getúlio Vargas (IBRE/FGV).
In the Division by type of products, wood packaging had the biggest fall in the first half, production of 14.47 percent, followed by metal ( -6.15%), plastic ( -2.67%), paper, cardboard and paperboard ( -1.25%) and glass ( -0.41%).

Jobs
According to the study, the packaging sector generated 226,866 jobs until may 2015, which meant a 1.6% drop compared to the same period in 2014.
The wood segment showed the biggest fall in job creation, to 5.73%, followed by metallic ( -3.10%), paper ( -2.91%), plastic ( -1.43%) and cardboard and corrugated cardboard ( -0.62%). The glass area was the only one present, growth of 4.04%.
