Retail movement rises 2.7% in March

According to Serasa Experian, the data flow of consumers in stores March 2015 advanced 2.7% over the month of February/15, has already made the appropriate seasonal adjustments. In comparison with the same month of last year, there were high of 5.9% in trade activity in the third month of this year. Despite this result obtained in March/15, retail activity closed the first quarter of the year with annual growth of only 0.6%, this being the worst result for the last 12 years.
According to Serasa Experian's economists, the consumer movement of trade in March this year was favored by mobile holiday Carnival, which this year fell in February. However, factors such as high inflation during the first quarter of this year, the increasingly expensive credit and the low degree of consumer confidence weighed negatively on the performance retailer in the first three months of 2015.
In March, the high retail activity occurred in all sectors surveyed. The largest islet of 3.6%, occurred in the segments of fuels and lubricants and also in supermarkets, hypermarkets, food and drinks. In addition to these, we had increases of 2.7% in the segment of building material; of 1.6% on furniture, electronics and if computer equipment; and 1.4% in textiles, clothing, footwear and accessories. Finally, the segment of vehicles, motorcycles and parts surged to 0.1% in March/15.
In the first quarter of 2015, three sectors closed with growth and three with fall. In the field we had positive the high of 6.8% in the segment of textiles, clothing, footwear and accessories; of 3.3% on furniture, electronics and computer equipment; and 2.2% in supermarkets, hypermarkets, food and drinks.
Already in negative territory, was 8.7% indentations in the segment of vehicles, motorcycles and parts; of 9.5% in fuels and lubricants; and 10.8% in the segment of building materials.
