Canned seafood manufacturers invest in products with less sodium

Have a good diet is synonymous with healthy living. Choose well the ingredients is critical to improving the quality of life and one of the factors that help prevent the development of diseases. And companies are increasingly aware of the need to offer consumers products that contribute to a healthy and balanced diet, as in the case of canning manufacturers, which have been developing products with sodium reduction. An example of this type of food is solid tuna au naturel or in oil, whose amount of sodium is reduced by up to 80%, or even solid tuna preserved in mineral water without adding salt.
"Manufacturers of canned fish identified demand for healthy food is a trend and that low sodium is one of the most sought after by consumers," says Thais Fagury, food engineer and Executive Manager of Abeaço (Brazilian Association of steel Packing).
In addition to having low level or reset, the fish in steel can take advantage in relation to fresh fish, because they are more practical, they're already cleaned and ready to eat. Although both have the same Omega 3 fat, essential for the proper functioning of the organism, the canned are more protected against the action of microorganisms by the account of steel casing and remain preserved for much longer without chemical preservatives.
"As in the production process the fish are taken at high temperatures and cooking is fast, does not require the addition of chemicals, since this procedure already protects foods from microorganisms," says Thais.
