Global demand for milk must grow 36% until 2024

The global demand for milk must grow 36% in the next decade, mainly due to the growth of population, the increase in the purchasing power of households and of urbanization in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The data is the seventh edition of Dairy Index, Tetra Pak ' s study which highlights the opportunities and challenges posed by the growing global demand for dairy.
The numbers are promising, but point to challenges, since today the product supply and demand are unbalanced across the world. The increasing demand for dairy products in emerging markets is unlikely to be met by raw milk produced locally, while, in developed markets, the surplus produced faces the challenges of competing in foreign markets. In these areas, domestic consumption is falling.
