São Paulo – the General Electric announced last Monday, the acquisition of two divisions of Thermo Fisher Scientific, one of the leaders in scientific research. The deal was closed at 1.06 billion dollars.
According to GE, the divisions are focused on the growth of cells and DNA and purification will be incorporated to the area of health, with the aim of strengthening the strategy of supplying medicines, vaccines and Diagnostics.
In addition, it will support the company to join in high-tech industries and compete for high margins and profits in the market.
John Dineen, Chief Executive of GE Healthcare, said through a statement that the deal will help the company to improve the medical advances at a lower cost to the people.
"This is one of the strongest areas of the company and with rapid growth, driven by global demand to improve the Diagnostics and develop safer drugs," said the Executive, in a statement.
