Telefónica Brazil profit decreases 15.8% in Q2

Telefónica Brazil recorded net income of r $ 914,2 million in the second quarter of 2013, a decline of 15.8% in comparison with the same period last year. In the initial six months of the year, profit fell 15.6%, to R $ 1,724 billion.
NET operating revenue has grown from 3%, from $ 8.24 billion in the months of April, may and June of last year to $ 8,491 billion this year. In the first half, revenue also rose 3% to r $ 17,047 billion.
The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) was $ 2,575 billion, with indentation of 16.7%, in the quarter. In six months, the index retreated 10.3%, to R $ 5,323 billion.
The hits recorded by the company in the quarter totaled 91.141 million, with a slight 0.3% advance. Mobile accesses totaled 76.2 million, 0.6% high, and fixed accesses totalled 14.9 million, with indentation of 1.3%.
The average revenue per customer (Arpu) rose 4.1% in the months of April, may and June, to $ 22.80. In the first half, the breakthrough was also 4.1%.
In the second quarter, net debt stood at r $ 523,6 million, which represented a fall of 83.5% compared to the same period last year. Compared with the first three months of 2013, there was a decrease of 20.8%.
The reduction was explained by the cash generation, who in the second trime stre of the year was r $ 8.09 billion, 301.6% higher than the amount registered in the same range of 2012.
The gross debt in the period was r $ 8.99 billion, with 63.7% increase compared to last year and 16.8% over March 2013. This increase is mainly related to the emission of debentures totaling R $ 2 billion held in September 2012 and of r $ 1.3 billion held in April this year.
In the three months to June, Telefonica Brazil presented a cash balance of $ 7.78 billion, compared with a balance of $ 2.05 billion a year earlier. Operating cash generation was r $ 1.97 billion, with growth of R $ 115.9 million compared to the previous year.
