Printer sales in Brazil fell 17.6% in 2012, to 4.1 million units, according to research firm IDC. According to Diego Silva, market analyst of IDC, factors such as the search for larger profit margins for manufacturers, the decline in the PC market and, especially, the postponement of investments by the Government and the business market have affected the market.
Of all equipment sold in the last year, 74.5% were using inkjet technology, 24.6% and 1%. Silva said that the inkjet market was the most affected, with a drop in sales of 21.3%. The laser segment, in turn, recorded a decline of 4.8%, while the marketing of dot-matrix printers fell 3.7% for 2011. For 2013, the projection of the IDC is 4.2 million printers sold in Brazil.
