Hevi will start operations of a new corrugated sheets in Q2

The Amazon Packaging Hevi-cardboard-provider will start in the second quarter of the year, a new conversion plant in the city of Manaus, State of Amazonas, in the North of the country. The company said the wording of the PPI Latin America of RISI, which is investing $ 60 million (29.8 million u.s. dollars) to produce 36 thousand tons/year of packaging and corrugated board plates.
The new corrugator was provided by Fosber/Maquipe/SES and electronic systems from Siemens. Currently, the company has ability to convert 500 tons/month of corrugated plates provided by Orsa Klabin and IP in boxes and other items of corrugated board.
The commercial Manager of Hevi, Hélio Uchoa, explained that, with the new investment, the company will convert kraft and recycled paper provided by Klabin. "We are closing a technical and industrial partnership with the leading company of the country in corrugated paper packaging sector," commented Uchoa.
The Hevi was established in 1992 with a focus on conversion of the cash and the new production of corrugated board-packages will be marketed in parts of the Northeast and North of the country. "This market is growing due to the increased power of the Brazilian population's income. We also have great expectations with the big events that will happen in the country, such as the Olympic Games and the World Cup, "said Uchoa.
