Claudia Sender is new President of TAM

TAM announced yesterday that the Executive Claudia Sender, 38 years, will be the new President of the company. With the change, TAM back to have a President in charge solely by the company. Since February 2012, the President of TAM S.A. holding, Marco Antonio Bologna, accumulated also the President of TAM Airlines. Claudia will be the first woman to command an airline.
Bologna said in a statement to the press, that the current scenario of Brazilian civil aviation brings challenges and opportunities for the industry, companies that require an Executive focused on day to day operation. "Issues such as the promotion of regional aviation, increasing airport capacity, competitive dynamics and the big events that Brazil will receive in this and the coming years require focus on the everyday life of the company, which will be in charge of Claudia from today," he said.
While leaving the Presidency of TAM Airlines, Bologna will focus on the consolidation of the merger of LAN and TAM, made official in June 22, 2012. TAM S.A. is the parent company of TAM TAM Airlines Paraguay and Multiplus.
Trajectory. Claudia came to TAM in December 2011 as Vice President Sales and marketing. After the creation of Latam, the areas of the company were restructured and Claudia took the Vice-Presidency of the business unit of Brazil's domestic flights.
The Executive stood out inside the TAM for run a plan targeting, which basically consists of implementing a sales system that identifies and offers cheaper tickets to customers who travel for leisure and more expensive to the business. With this business strategy, the company managed to raise their occupancy rate of domestic flights from 62.7% to 73% from March 2012 to March 2013 and gain a percentage point of the market even with an 11% reduction in the supply of seats.
Claudia has a degree in chemical engineering at the University of São Paulo (USP) and did an MBA at Harvard Business School. Prior to joining TAM, she was VP of Marketing of Whirlpool home appliances maker in Latin America and Bain Consultant & Company.
The last Executive to devote himself exclusively to the President of TAM Airlines was Lebanon. He left the role in February last year to be CFO (chief financial officer) of Latam, but left the company soon after, in September.
