JUICE FACTORY ADES WILL BE VISTORIADA

The Unilever factory in the city of Pouso Alegre (MG), where it was manufactured a batch of AdeS juice contaminated with the cleaning solution, will be inspected at the request of the national agency of sanitary surveillance (Anvisa).
The Minas Gerais State health surveillance should analyse all stages of production. This was announced yesterday, a day after Unilever, owner of the brand, announced a recall of a batch of Apple juice with 1.5 litre AdeS by risk of burns. According to the manufacturer, the contamination was detected in the lot with the initials AGB 25, manufactured on February 25 and with validity until 22 December.
At least 14 people consumed any volume of contaminated batch. According to Unilever, consumers have been met through customer service (SAC) and 12 of them have received medical care and undergo monitoring. Two customers who reported the problem to the company did not want to be met. According to Unilever, 96 units of the product were contaminated.
The substance that was accidentally mixed the juice at time of bottling was caustic soda (sodium hydroxide solution 2.5%), according to Unilever. The doctor Andrea Sette, and Maternity Hospital São Luiz, says that the ingestion of caustic soda does not cause systemic poisoning, but a local reaction. "Everything depends on the concentration, dilution and the presentation of the substance," he says. In liquid form, the substance passes more easily through the pharynx and esophagus, and the lesions may focus on the portion of the stomach and duodenum.
"When there are swallowed by accident, an injury occurs mucosal tissue chemistry, amending both the pH and the temperature, which can result in necrosis."
Doctors recommend that anyone who has consumed lot of juice indicated refer to a health service even without having submitted health problems. A precautionary treatment for intoxication can ease the symptoms.
Rights. Consumers who have consumed contaminated batch juice can ask in compensation for moral damages Justice and heritage. The information is based on the consumer defense code (CDC), and in a statement released by Procon (SP) the day before yesterday. In such cases, says the Procon-SP, the company must submit information, including clear and detailed information about the risks to the consumer.
"The supplier will not be able to put in the consumer market product or service that you know or should know present high degree of harmfulness or danger to health or safety", says the article 10 of the CRC.
