Consumer confidence is falling 0.7% in January

The consumer confidence index (CCI) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation retreated 0.7 percent in January compared with December, when passing from 118.7 points to 117.9 points, according to FGV said Thursday.
In December, the index had retreated 1.08 percent in comparison with November.
According to the FGV, the Current situation Index (ISA) fell 1.2 percent, rising from 133.5 points in December to 131.9 points in January. The Expectations index also declined 0.7 percent, to 111.3 points to 110.5 points in the period, the lowest level since February of 2012, while in 108.3 points.
The proportion of consumers evaluating the current financial situation as good decreased from 24.3 percent to 22.2 percent. Already those who judged the scenario as bad has grown from 21.9 percent to 24.2 percent.
Over the coming months, the FGV said that the indicator that measures the degree of optimism about future economic conditions dropped 0.7 percent in January, with consumers less confident about the possibility of recovery of the economy.
In November, Brazilian retail sales grew 0.3 percent over the previous month, showed slowdown after high of 0.8 per cent in October, which showed the difficulty of recovery of economic activity at the end of 2012.
