SABMiller rejects new offer from AB InBev

The British Brewer SABMiller on Wednesday rejected the latest offer to purchase made by its main rival, the belgo-Brazilian Anheuser-Busch InBev, to 42.15 pounds per share (57.36 euros).
In a statement, the company said that most of the Board of directors turned down the offer and that only the directors appointed by the Altria Group, one of its major shareholders, voted in favour of the proposal.
SABMiller, which had already rejected an offer of £ 42 per share (57.15 euros) in cash and an alternative titles, said that the new proposal from the AB Inbev "subavalia" still substantially the company, its "unique and unmatchable seal", as well as "their perspectives separately.

The merger of both companies would generate revenues of 57 million euros and an Ebitda of 21.4 billion euros. The resulting company would create the first brewery with a capitalisation of 246.1 billion euros and have strayed so far from other rivals such as Diageo and Heineken.
The President of SABMiller, Jan du Plessis, said today that the company is "the jewel of the brewing sector" and accused the AB Inbev to make proposals "opportunists and conditionals", with elements designed for "deliberately not be attractive" to many of the shareholders.
After the news that the last takeover bid was rejected, SABMiller shares rose 0.55 percent on the London Stock Exchange, down from 1.62% registered in the morning, when the proposal was still being evaluated by the Board of Directors.
