Sales for Easter should fall 3.4% this year

As occurred in 2015, sales for Easter should fall this year. That''s what points the CNC (National Commerce Confederation for goods, services & tourism), which in its annual study designed a retraction of 3.4% in sales compared to last year.
In 2015, the result was a fall of 1% on the previous year. CNC expects sales for the holiday this year totalling 2.8 billion R$. The sales downturn that design is the result of inflation, combined with the high-dollar, which impacts, especially those imported, "explains Fabio Bentes, Economist of CNC.
Prices
The study also highlights that this will probably be the Easter with greater price increase in the last 13 years. In the last 12 months, there have been average growth of 13.6%. The items with the highest rates are fished (11.3%), chocolate (13.3%), fuels (21.1%) and oil (28.3%).
The price increase not only will be even larger because the new formula for taxing chocolate based products only takes effect from the month of May.
