Gross sales of Carrefour Brazil grow 7.2% in 2017

Carrefour Brazil informs on Tuesday (17/1) that there was growth of 7.2% in gross sales in 2017 and 5.3% in the fourth quarter of last year, compared with the same period in 2016. According to the statement from the retailer, sales for the year reached R $49.7 billion, equivalent to an increase of sales in the order of R $3.3 billion. Of this amount, 3% resulted from the same store sales performance. In the year to November, Carrefour Brazil gained market share in all retail formats, while the market share of Atacadão remained stable according to data from Nielsen. In the fourth quarter of 2017, gross sales reached R $13.6 billion.
Atacadão last year, gross sales reached $34 on the flag Atacadão R billion, a high of 8%, an increase of $2.5 billion compared to 2016 R. In the fourth quarter the increase was 7% to $9.3 billion. In Carrefour, the number of stores opened under the banner Express 22 units totaled 4T17, including the first store in São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, bringing the number of stores to 119, of which 49 were opened in the last 12 months.
The two gas stations and a drugstore complete the expansion plan of the quarter. The brazilian operation has also opened a new supermarket store branded Carrefour Market in São Paulo.
