Sale of white line falls 5% until June

The sale of white goods appliances, such as refrigerators and washing machines, dropped 5 percent in the first half of this year, according to the National Association of manufacturers of electrical and electronic products (power lines), in comparison with the first six months of 2013.
The President of Eletros evaluations, Lourival Kiçula, related the fall of sales to the effect of the World Cup. According to him, consumers preferred to buy televisions last year.
"In the Cup, the housewife, even with the need for a new refrigerator, accepted the will of the family and purchased the TV. Now, the expectation is of space for the increased sales of stoves, washers and refrigerators, "said Kiçula.
The Electros, representative of 32 companies in the electronics sector, expects the recovery in sales of white goods in the second half of the year. Already on the Brown line, which includes televisions, sound and video, the scenario must be of stability, because the demand was anticipated due to football sporting event.
For this category, there are accumulated data until July. In the first seven months of the year, 8.8 million televisions were sold, according to Eletros evaluations, with 16% advance in comparison with the same period in 2013. According to the Association, the year should finish with more than 15 million TV sets sold. At the end of July, 98% of televisions in the country were thin screen, a fast forward to the 93% registered in 2013.
The Shower also highlighted the good sales performance of microwave: 13% high in the first half, to 4.3 million units.
In the face of difficult economic moment, the President of the Association dismissed IPI recomposing announcements in the coming months. "There is no mood for the increase," said Kiçula. The Executive participated in the opening of the Eletrolar Show, industry and retail trade of household appliances, consumer electronics, phones and YOU, held in São Paulo.
In washing machines, the Association defended the cut in the rate of tax on industrialized products (IPI), from 10% to 5%. The Electros argues that the appliance is critical for families and has no presence as pervasive in Brazilian homes. According to the National household sample Survey (Pnad), 55.8% of the country's households had washing machines in 2012, compared with 51.6% in 2011.
The full rate of the IPI washing machines is 20%, but is 10% since October 2012. The tax is 5% and ABS of stoves, 4%. The rates apply to items with energy efficiency.
