Anfavea says it will expand its production goal

The Anfavea, an organization that represents automakers in Brazil, anticipated yesterday that it will improve its goal for vehicle production this year, after seeing the industry activity evolve at a pace above expectations. For now, the industry forecast points to a growth of 4.5% in the production of automakers. The industry, however, is well above this number, scoring 15.8% in advance until July.
The disclosure of the new estimate is scheduled for next month. The Anfavea also said it will revise its projection for sales of vehicles. In this case, the market is below the target set for the year, growth in the range of 3.5% to 4.5%. In the first seven months, the plates issued, including trucks and buses, showed high of 2.9%. However, Luiz Moan, President of Anfavea, said that the new estimate will continue indicating increased volumes sold in 2013, renewing the previous year's record.
The automakers ' production this year grows due to the expansion of both the domestic market and exports, as well as a move to replace imported cars affected by Government restrictions, by national vehicles. Yesterday, the Anfavea revised its forecast for exports, which now points to a growth of 20% of the shipments, given the recovery of consumer markets, such as Argentina and Mexico. Before, the expectation was 4.6% drop in exports in 2013.
The entity expects to repeat the positive scenario shown in this year will lead to a new increase in production in 2014, even if the Government confirm the withdrawal of rebates in the tax on industrialized products (IPI) from January. "It will be a difficult year, but not negative," said the Executive, to present the results of automakers in July.
Despite the good performance in the year, the sector, down by excess stocks, declined in July the rate shown in the four months immediately prior. This reduced from 39 to 35 days the stockpile of vehicles turning in factories and dealerships.
According to Moan, the stoppage of the truckers and the general strike in the first two weeks of the month weighed on automakers ' activity, as well as local holidays in large production centers, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Still, last month's production, from 312.3 million vehicles, was the biggest for July in history, surpassing in 3.7% the volume of a year earlier.
In July, sales of vehicles, 342.3 thousand units, soared 7.4% in comparison with June, favored by three working days more than businesses in most parts of the country. In relation to the strong volume from the same period of 2012, however, there was a 6% drop in licenses.
