Sicobe: beer production in the country falls in July

The Brazilian production of beer retreated 6.9% in July compared with the same month of 2014, according to preliminary data of the control System for the production of beverages (Sicobe), the internal revenue service.
In the last month were produced 982.6 million liters compared with 1.056 billion liters in July of last year. This is the sixth consecutive month of decline in production compared to the previous year.
The production last year grew up driven by the completion of the World Cup in Brazil. Year to date until July beer production reached 7.459 billion liters, 6.8% lower than the amount registered in the same period last year.
The volume of soft drinks produced by the beverage industry in Brazil also record fall in July. In the month, were 1.063 billion liters manufactured, 15.2% decline in comparison with the same period in 2014.
It is also the sixth consecutive month of drop in production. In the seven months of the year, the production of soft drinks comes to 8.172 billion, 6.9% reduction compared to the previous year.
The industry downturn already appears in the result of the major manufacturers, which have faced more difficulties to maintain the gains of 2014. In the second quarter, the volume of drinks fell 7.9% of Ambev against same period in 2014. In the first half, the company accumulates a fall of 3.9% in volume.
