AB Inbev boosts property with purchase of Czech Budweiser

The global brewery behind the American Budweiser acted to strengthen its property to the name of the beer, making a small acquisition in a Czech city after years of dispute over rights for one of the best-known brands in the world.
Anheuser-Busch InBev said he bought a brewery named Samson in Czech town Budweis in German language name for Ceske Budejovice and where Budejovicky Budvar is State brewery, which produces the Budvar, or Budweiser.
The two companies clashed in hundreds of legal disputes about trademarks like Budweiser and Bud, and AB Inbev uses the shortened version of the name in some markets.
But the acquisition shows that AB Inbev still wanted to strengthen its position in relation to the mark.
"Although the Bud trademark registration valid throughout the European Union in 2013 already guaranteed to AB InBev protection in practically the whole world for the brands Bud and Budweiser, the acquisition further strengthens the legal position of AB Inbev, particularly as refers to the Budweiser brand," said AB InBev.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
