Easter egg prices rise on average 3.4% this year, says Association

Easter egg prices are, on average, 3.4% more expensive this year, compared to 2016, according to a survey published on Thursday, 2, Brazilian supermarket Association (Abras).
The Group of chocolates, rose still in relation to last year''s Easter chocolates in boxes (400 grams), the biggest high, 4.4%; chocolates in General (and tablets), 4.1%; Candy ball, 3.7%; Easter eggs up to 150 grams, 3.7%; Easter eggs from more than 150 grams to 500 grams, 2.8%; and Easter eggs up to 500 grams, 2%.
The cod was the item that showed lower variation (1.5%), followed by imported in General who recorded 2.2%, favored by the Exchange, colomba pascal (2.5%), fish in General (2.6%), soda (3.1%), imported wine (3.2%), olive oil (3.2%), wine (3.3%) and beer (3.7%).

One of the most important dates for the supermarket sector, Easter this year should not show good sales results. According to Abras, 39.4% of entrepreneurs believe the 2017 results will be lower than those presented in the previous year.
The survey shows that only 12.1% of entrepreneurs are optimistic in relation to the data, and design numbers higher than those registered in 2016. For 48.5% of the supermarket, the Easter of 2017 must register sales at the same level of the previous year.
Supermarket orders point to a nominal reduction of 4.9% in 2017 Easter sales. Deflated by average variation of products surveyed, 3.1%, the real reduction shall be 7.7%. According to the Superintendent of the Open, Tojo Mathew, the result is to be expected.
"The current economic moment, with increasing unemployment rate and sales more timid, is reflecting on the expectations of the supermarket, they''re more afraid," says the Superintendent.
In relation to orders of chocolates, retailers prefer to be more cautious this year and bet on lower value-added products, such as candy boxes of 400 grams (4%), chocolates in General (bar, bar), 4% and Bonbon ball (2.1%). The remainder of the products recorded drop in orders: Easter eggs in General ( -9.8), Easter eggs above 150 grams to 500 grams ( -9.8%), Easter eggs up to 500 grams ( -9.4%) and Easter eggs up to 150 grams ( -5.9%).
On the other hand, some well sought after products on the day had increased in the order: beer (4.5%), olive oil (3.4%), soda (1.8%), fish in General (1%) and domestic wine (0.6%). Some typical items presented fall in orders in relation to 2016: col
