Carioca bean price drops more than 17% in January

With high of 0.22% in January, the BTI (retail price index) signaled a discreet deceleration, in order of perceived high 0.29% in December. In 12 months, accumulated high of products was 5.60%. In January 2016 the BTI recorded positive variation of 0.92%, 12 months accumulating in high of 10.74%.
Of the eight groups analyzed, two of them registered negative variations of prices: food & beverage ( -0.20%) and Household items ( -0.42%). The price of beans, for example, fell 17.17% in January though, in the past 12 months, still above the average inflation record high of 13.70%. Also the fall in the prices of English potatoes items ( -10.14%), grape ( -8.70%) and tomatoes ( -8.50%).

According to FecomercioSP, even with the downturn of the high prices of food segment, the cost of living in the metropolitan area grew by 0.25 percent in the month.
