The electronics sector production falls 11.3% in 2016

The electronics industry''s production shrank by 11.3% last year in front of 2015, according to Abinee (Brazilian Association of electrical and Electronics Industry), based on information from the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics). The pullback was more expressive than the general industry ( -6.6%) and the processing industry ( -6.1%).
The result was motivated by the fall of 14.8% in industry 8.6% in electronics and electrical. In the case of electronics, reductions were observed in all its subsectors, highlighting the computer equipment and peripherals (20.3%) indentation. In electrical, only increased by the production of batteries and accumulators (high of 4.2%). The other subsectors analyzed showed a fall, as in the case of lamps and other lighting fixtures.
This production performance is in line with the sector''s turnover, which had real fall 11% last year, reaching virtually all segments of Abinee, according to Executive Chairman of the Association, Humberto Barbato.
Growth in December in the household of the year performance was negative in December the production gave signs of recovery, showing growth of 7.3% compared to November, with seasonal adjustment. It was the second consecutive increase after three straight declines. The result was motivated mainly by the expansion of 15.2% of the production of electronic goods, since the electrical industry was virtually stable (+0.4%).
In comparison with December 2015, the electronics sector production increased by 8.0%. This was the second time in the year 2016 the industry production presented a result higher than the same month of the previous year. Such behaviour also occurred in August of 2016, when the electronics industry had recorded an increase of 2.6% compared to August 2015.
"We hope this result signal a recovery trend and not just a one-off growth, because there is still a long way to be taken for the electronics industry to recover the losses of the last three years in your level of industrial activity," said Barbato.
