Dow and Nordmeccanica announce revolutionary technology in flexible packaging laminating

Dow and Nordmeccanica SpA, just announced the launch of a revolutionary technology that combines both advances lamination on the stickers as in machinery.
The SYMBIEX ™ Super fast healing is a new generation of adhesives without solvent in combination with the innovative technology of Duplex lamination SL One Shot ™ Nordmeccanica, resets the lamination process of providing packaging converters the best advances in efficiency, shorter curing time and significant decrease of the deadline of the final packaging.
"We were able to launch this revolutionary technology just 18 months after signing the joint development agreement with Nordmeccanica what is something exceptional," Yasmin Gomez, Marketing Manager for Dow Adhesives for packaging, textile products and Hygienic in Latin America. "This speed was possible because we combine technical knowledge from Dow in development of adhesives with the vanguard Nordmeccanica machines, and the result brings one of the greatest innovations ever achieved in laminations for 50 years".

An example is to combine the Super fast cure, which requires an immediate action, adhesive with excellent machinability useful that requires a slower action, "says Matthew Cipro, technical leader for Dow''s stickers in Latin America. In this sense, he recalls that with the SYMBIEX ™ and the Duplex laminator SL One Shot ™ it is possible to cut in just 90 minutes after lamination in comparison to the current standard that can vary from 12 hours to 24 hours. "It is an innovation that brings a revolution in laminating adhesives market.

* Improvements in the efficiency of conversion: no worries with the feeder and the life of the product in machine (Pot Life);
* Cost of using lower: reduction in stopping the process and in the inventory of the material cured;

Packaging lamination reset
Compared with a conventional line of lamination, the Duplex laminator SL One Shot ™ features a differentiated system to deal with the solvent-free lamination processes, making it possible, in the process of lamination, adhesive components both take as much time as possible to get in touch.
With two independent stations, high-precision cold rolling, the two films are pressed together only in the NIP (lamination) where the adhesive cure. This process eliminates the need for a mixing unit and any concerns related to life and offers a reduced time of stopping the line, as well as ease of cleaning.
"The new technology was able to not only overcome the limitations of life by moving the start of the chemical reaction for the NIP, but also develop the fastest solvent-free adhesives produced with two components seen in the market today," said Yasmin Gomez.
Before this technology, if a project needed Converter provide laminated with a fast response time he would have to use a healing method of solvent, water based or some other alternative healing. The SYMBIEX ™ stickers and DUPLEX one-shot ™ provide excellent adhesion without Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), great reduction in energy consumption and rapid healing enabling a faster delivery.
