Mercedes-Benz estimates 12.7% in indentation; improves only in 2016

After nearly depleting alternatives to adjust production to demand, the Mercedes-Benz sees drop in 12.75 percent in trucks and light commercial plates issued this year about 2013, to 130 thousand units, reveals the company's President in Brazil, Philipp Schiemer.
"The truck market is very related to the GDP [gross domestic Product]. If there is no improvement [of GDP] the market doesn't grow, "he said.
According to Schiemer, however, the German carmaker believes that Brazil has the potential to 200 thousand units per year. "We are practically in a recession in Brazil. However, if the next Government take few brakes of the economy, despite the negative impact in 2015, in the medium and long term, there will be more security for investors and confidence will improve in 2016, "he pondered.
Moreover, according to the Executive, the supply of credit is still very restricted and bureaucratic, which ends up favoring just large companies. "Few people have access to this type of financing, because the program [of BNDES] is quite bureaucratic mainly for small and medium-sized enterprises," says, noting that the large volume of Brazilian transport is done by independent entrepreneurs.
"The country needs to invest in production. This is the next cycle. No point investing in consumption, "believes.
Installed capacity Schiemer stated, however, that the automaker will keep your bets on Brazil. The company must invest $ 2.5 billion between 2010 and 2015. In 2010 the company has invested in a plant in Juiz de Fora (MG), but this year had to grant collective vacations and adopt mechanisms to adjust production to the market. "This increase in capacity became a problem and became more evident with the second plant," he said. The factory currently works in two shifts, although it has the capacity to three, namely, is using only about 65 percent of capacity.
Mercedes-Benz produces trucks in Juiz de Fora and São Bernardo do Campo (SP), where he works on a short week, as needed, or grants Bank of hours for employees. The company also left open a Voluntary Dismissal program (PDV), lay-off (temporary suspension of employment contracts) and negotiates trade agreements. "Nobody thinks about closing Juiz de Fora. We made a lot of investments there. But we're working to find synergies between the two units ".
The Executive said that the company won a bid to supply water trucks (carriage of liquids) to the Government, which gave some relief, but it was not enough. "A great program of fleet renewal should leave just in the next Government," he concluded.
