Laranjais grow in the southwest region of SP

In the Fazenda where Junior Valério Matricarde is an administrator, in São Miguel Arcanjo, the orange feet occupy almost 500 hectares. There are 200,000 trees of 5 varieties. The Orange Grove is geared towards the production of juice. Early varieties record average productivity of 1800 boxes per hectare, which means about 50% more than the average of the state. The orchards of the region are benefited by the climate. There is good rainfall distribution and there is no record of extreme temperatures. Together, the regions of Itapetininga and Avaré should harvest 85 million boxes, which corresponds to 21% of the production planned for the citrus belt of São Paulo and the Triângulo and Southwest Mineiro. A survey of Fundecitrus indicates that there was an increase of 2250 hectares planted with orange in the regions of Itapetininga and Avaré. Of the total, 60% are areas of expansion and 40%, places to renew the orchards. Misaque Bento manages a farm where the planting of new seedlings was made on 11 hectares. The plantation has 120 hectares in total. The space between the plants was reduced, which allowed the same area to have an increase of 30% of trees. Another advantage of those who plant in this region is the smallest of greening, the main threat to the orchards. The lower temperatures do not favor the proliferation of the disease. Guilherme Rodriguez, the agronomist of Fundecitrus, explains that the average temperature in the region is 18 degrees, well below the 25 degrees, which is the point at which the greening most attacks. Guilherme says that in the region of Itapetininga, only 1% of plants are sick. In the Central region of São Paulo, another important production area, the index is 48%.
