Number of cell phones in Brazil registered reduction of 7.6 mi in 2017

The number of mobile (cell) phone lines in Brazil registered a reduction of 7,578,808 in 2017, a drop of 3.11%, according to balance sheet released this Wednesday, 31, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel).
In the month of December, for the previous month, the personal mobile service presented a fall of 1.09%, with less 2,603,234 lines in operation. According to data published by the Agency, the country closed the year with 236,488,548 lines in operation. Of this total, 148,509,361 are prepaid and 87,979,187 are pós-pagas. In 12 months, registered a 9.83% reduction in prepaid lines, which closed the year with a decrease of 16,190,210 lines. In postpaid, however, 10.85% increase was recorded, with the addition of 8,611,402 lines. When compared to the previous month, in December 2017, prepaid mobile lines presented fall of 3,582,840 units, a decrease of 2.36%. I've recorded a growth of postpaid 1.13%, with over 979,606 lines.
According to Anatel, during this period, two States showed growth in mobile lines: Roraima, with addition of 5,715 lines, an increase of 1.19 percent, and Sao Paulo, with addition of 178,009 lines, an increase of 0.29%.
In addition, in comparison of the last month of the last year with the previous month, three States in the northern region showed growth in the number of mobile lines: Amazon with 8,730 more rows; Amapá and Roraima with 2,039 more more 2,810; and a State in the Southeast, the Holy Spirit, with 5,046 more lines.
Companies. Among the companies, the numbers show that Alive continues as the largest operator, with 74,939,872 mobile lines. The course has surpassed Tim and went on to take second place, with 59,022,019 customers. Already the Tim, closed the year with 58,634,435 subscribers. The Hi appears in fourth with 38,942,433 lines.
Technologies. From January to December last year, the 4 g (LTE) showed an increase of 42,133,684 units, an increase of 70.10%, and those used in machine-to-machine (M2M), as remote warning systems, home automation and tracking of car, also had increased 2,483,743 lines.
