Internet Sales Grow 5.2%

The Ebit, company specializing in e-commerce information, today introduced the 34th WebShoppers, report on the sector in Brazil. The study reports that in the first half of 2016 Internet sales achieved a turnover of R$ 19.6 billion, which represents a nominal growth of 5.2% in comparison with the same period last year. The main factors that draw this growth are: the 7% increase in the value of the average ticket, getting on R$ 403.46, pulled by the high growth in prices recorded by the FIPE Index/Rocket; greater participation of the AB classes; and maintenance of sales of higher-value products categories, like "Appliances" and "telephony/cell phones.
Fall in the Volume of orders however, with rising unemployment and weakening of the purchases made by the class C, there was 2% drop in the volume of orders in the previous year. In total, there were accounted for virtual orders 48,500,000. On the other hand, the average family income of consumers online has increased by 11%, reaching R$ 5,174.
