Chicken slaughter reaches record in Paraná

The year of 2014 begins with great news for the poultry industry of Paraná. According to the Union of poultry products industries of the State of Paraná (Sindiavipar), the sector earned in January a new historic threshold for the production of chicken meat: more from 132.43 million head slaughtered, a growth of 6.49% compared with the same period last year, when they were slaughtered more than 124 million birds.
The data released by the Bureau of foreign trade (Secex), linked to the Ministry of development, industry and foreign trade (MDIC), show that the turnover of exports also grew 10% compared with the previous year-with $ 164,849,770 invoiced against $ 149,733,874 in 2013, while the volume increased 16 percent, with the record of 94.03 million tons compared to 80.79 thousand tons exported in January last year.
The results indicate that export poultry industry of Paraná follows firmly in its path of recovery, with numbers similar to those presented in January 2012, before the crisis that the sector suffered from the second half of the year due to the drop in crop of American supplies.
According to the President of the Sindiavipar, Domingos Martins, the expectation for this year is that the growth of poultry paranaense is three times greater than that of the gross domestic product (GDP) in Brazil. "I see it as a very promising year 2014, we will surely grow much, three times the national GDP," he said.
Currently, the Paraná is the largest producer and exporter, as well as national reference on poultry health and accounts for over 25% of the exports of chicken meat in the country, embarking the product to more than 130 countries around the world.
The Sindiavipar represents 44 slaughterhouses, hatcheries and refrigerators of Paraná.
