Sale of motor vehicles falls in 2013, Fenabrave points

Brasília-Automotive vehicle sales by dealers to the domestic market fell 2.29 percent in 2013, compared to 2012, totaling 5.458 million units in the year. The fall was driven by the weak performance of the automotive segment, with indentation of 3.05%, in comparison with the previous year. Sales expenses of trucks and buses grew an average of 14.36%.
The result was above the foreseen by the National Federation of Distribution of motor vehicles, the Fenabrave which expected drop in sales to the tune of 1.52%.
Despite the setback, the December performance was good, with growth of 16.03% over November and with stability in comparison to December 2012. In the last month of the year, many consumers anticipated purchases of vehicles, on the expectation of gradual reduction of the Industrialized Product tax rebates (IPI).
