Positive manufacturer's sales are at an all-time high

SAO PAULO-the Brazilian manufacturer of computers registered an increase of Positivo Informática 17.9% in net revenue in the fourth quarter of 2013, about a year before, influenced by the increase in the volume of sales, mainly of Government equipment and tablets.
The company's net revenue totaled r $ 769,1 million in the last three months of the year, and totaled 2.566 billion in 2013, an increase of 22.1%.
Gross revenues reached a record R $ 843,1 million in the quarter, according to the positive, due to sales of 802.8 million computers and tablets, growth of 19.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2012.
"The good performance of the period allowed for the completion of the largest quarterly revenue in the history of the company and overcoming the mark of 3 million units sold in the year, expansion of 27.6% compared to 2012, the company said in a statement.
Sales of tablets grew 96.6% in the quarter, to 134 thousand units. The marketing of desktpos rose 16.7 percent to 192.3 billion, and that of notebooks has increased 8.1%, to 476.4 thousand units.
The Positive retail sales decreased 6.9% in the period, but more than doubled for the Government and also in the corporate segment.
Retail retreats
According to the data, retail participation in the net revenue of the company's hardware fell from 70.5% in the fourth quarter of 2012 to 55.6% in the last three months of last year. Meanwhile, the Government segment saw their slice grow from 19.3 to 28.8% and corporate progress was made of 10.2 to 15.6%.
"The reduction in the volume of PCs was influenced by the competition promoted by a multinational manufacturer in products of low setting, as well as by the increase in average price by the company, with a view to greater dollar exchange rate and the prices of some components in the international market," said positive.
In mid-November, Lenovo, the world's largest manufacturer of computers, said he had overcome the positive leadership in the Brazilian market of PCs, with slice of 18.3% in the third quarter.
