Auto parts: trade deficit grows

From January to July this year, the Country recorded new auto parts trade deficit. Were $ of 5.6 billion, 64.5% higher than the number registered in the same period in 2012. Exports, to 175 countries, totaled $ 5.9 billion, a result 3.3% lower. Imports, from 154, markets have grown 21.1% and totaled US $ 11.54 billion. The data were released by the National Union of the automotive vehicle components industry (Sindipeças). The Organisation warns that the combination of these two movements indicates loss of competitiveness to the local auto parts industry.
Exports to South America, the region holds more than 50% of the participation in sending components, grew 4.8 percent from January to July 2013 compared to the same period in the previous year. Except for this high and also in the increase in shipments to Europe, exports showed decline in confrontation with the same period in 2012.
The largest holdings in Brazilian imports are Europe, with 39.4 percent, and Asia and Oceania, with 35.8%. Together, they account for over 75% of purchases from abroad. According to the Sindipeças, the most significant growth during the period is the Central America and Caribbean, with 38.6%. The largest decline occurred in Africa, with 39.2% in accumulated from January to July this year compared with the same months of 2012.
