Vehicle production rises 30.7% in April

Vehicle production in the country rose by 30.7% in April, compared to the same period last year. In total, automakers manufactured 340.9 thousand units in the month, between cars, light commercials, trucks and buses.
The volume was 6.8% above March production, as balance sheet released on Tuesday by Anfavea, the entity that houses the automakers in the country.
In the first four months of the year, the industry produced 1.17 million vehicles, up 17% compared to the same period in 2012. For 2013, the Anfavea expects 4.5% increase, reaching about 3.5 million vehicles by December, which would be a record for the sector.
When you consider only the passenger cars and light-utilities benefit from reduction in the tax on industrialized products (IPI), the production totaled 319 thousand units last month, up 29.4% in relation to the volume of a year earlier. In comparison with March, there were 6.9% high.
The truck manufacturing had increased 56.5% in April, compared to the previous year, and 7 percent compared to March, a total of 18.1 million units last month.
Bus factories, production went up 42.2% in April, compared to the same period in 2012. In total, 3.7 thousand buses were produced last month, fall of 2.9% compared to March.
According to the Anfavea, the occupation in the automakers, including the agricultural machinery sector reached 153 thousand employees in April, representing a 0.5% relative to the immediately preceding month.
