Lenovo profit raises in the fourth fiscal quarter

Lenovo announced today that showed a net profit of $ 127 million, or $ 1.22 per share, in its fourth fiscal quarter, ended March 31. The amount represented an increase of 90% about the same range as the previous year, when the Chinese computer maker recorded a gain of $ 67 million.
The company's revenue in the period was $ 7.83 billion, up 4% on the total sales of $ 7.5 billion, released a year ago. Geographical division, the domestic market represented 40% of sales, while the remainder was distributed between Europe, the Middle East and Africa (24%), Asia-Pacific and Latin America (21%) and North America (15%).
In the consolidated fiscal year, Lenovo's net profit grew 34% to $ 635 million, while revenues registered a jump of 15%, to $ 33.8 billion.
"Despite a challenging macroeconomic environment and the ongoing transformation of the PC industry, Lenovo had a strong performance in the fiscal year," said Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo's Chief Executive. He highlighted the growth of 10.2% in sales volume of PCs in the fiscal year, to 52.4 million units, against a fall of 8.1% in the entire sector in the same period.
At the same time, Yuanqing stressed the progress in other segments, such as smartphones. Under the impetus of demand in the Chinese market, sales of these devices increased by 206% in the fourth quarter. "Going forward, we will focus our investments in fast-growing areas of tablets, smartphones and business equipment, while we work to improve the profitability of our core business, PCs," he added.
