Hyundai's factory in Piracicaba will have 3rd round and opens more 600 vacancies

The Korean Hyundai will start, still this semester, a third work shift at the factory in Piracicaba (SP), as should generate the opening of 600 to 700 new jobs. With the new group, the group will expand its production capacity of 150 thousand vehicles – initially – before even completing a year of operation.
The factory started production in September, with 1.5 thousand employees and, the following month, already had to adopt the second work shift to account for the HB20 model demand. Currently, the unit employs 2 million people, about 1.8 million of them in the production sector.
The model, which in February won a sports version, the HB20X, already appears in fourth place among the best-selling cars in the country in the list published in the first fifteen March by the National Federation of distribution of motor vehicles (Fenabrave). Is behind the goal, Volkswagen, and the Uno and the Palio, both of Fiat. In April, Hyundai will launch a sedan version, called HB20S.
With prices between $ 32 million and $ 48 million, the HB20 has queues of about 20 days on average in several stores of São Paulo, according to retailers.
The Public and Press Relations Manager of Hyundai, Mauricio Jordan says that the factory currently produces 34 cars per hour, which would address the 150 thousand units in a full year of operation. With the third shift, this number will be expanded, but the company has not yet closed.
According to Jordan, the basis for the adoption of the third shift will be discussed today with the syndicate of the metalurgists of Piracicaba. "We will discuss how the new round will be implemented, how many hires will be needed and whether temporary or fixed," he says.
The President of the Union, José Luiz Ribeiro, calculates the opening of 600 to 700 new jobs just in the Assembly line at Hyundai. "Still has the 12 suppliers who work beside the factory, which will also need to hire."
Ribeiro said that, currently, the employees realize an average 2:0 daily extras, besides working on Saturdays.
According to him, the Union intends to expedite the start of signings, but points out that the new employees will have to go through a period of training, so it is not possible currently to inform when will start the third round.
Ranking. Since the start of sales, on 10 October, until the first two weeks of March were sold 48 thousand HB20 units. In the first quarter, Hyundai ranked fifth in the ranking of the largest carmakers, edging out the French Renault and the Japanese Honda and Toyota. In front are Fiat, Volkswagen, GM and Ford.
At the very beginning of its operations, the Hyundai faced one-day strike of workers claiming wage increase. According to Ribeiro, this problem was solved with the elevation of the wage floor of $ 1.2 mil to r $ 1.6 billion and half-yearly adjustments of 5%.
