Brazil will export base of the new Fiesta

The new Fiesta that began to be produced at Ford's yesterday in São Bernardo do Campo, in the greater ABC, will be exported to South American countries today fueled by Mexico. "Brazil will be the source of production (for the region)," says company Vice President, Rogelio Golfarb. In the Brazilian market, the compact premium will begin to be sold in May.
The Executive does not reveal numbers for export and ponders that, for now, will be produced locally only hatch version, so the group will still have to assess the demand for the product. The Mexico also produces the sedan and a sports version.
Yesterday, the Ford factory ceremony took place to mark the start of the global car production, which is already done in Europe and China, and Mexico-which so far supplied the Canadian market, as well as the American. Ford factory in that country produces about 300 thousand units of the model.
Participated in the event the Governor Geraldo Alckmin and São Bernardo, Mayor Luiz Marinho, along with Ford officials and workers ' representatives.
Production numbers were not disclosed for the new Fiesta (or New Fiesta, as the automaker calls), but Golfarb informs you that the model will have the largest percentage of the productive capacity of the factory, 100 thousand cars per year. The unit also produces the compact Ka and the pickup Courier, that is coming out of the line and for now does not have a replacement set.
With local production, Ford no longer bring the hatch version, but Mexico should keep import sedan version that, according to market sources, will only be produced in the country from 2014. Yesterday, Golfarb declined to comment on this theme.
The new Fiesta is the second global car that Ford produces in Brazil. The first was the EcoSport, done in the plant in Camaçari (BA). "Until 2015, all our products will be global, including trucks," says the automaker's President, Steven Armstrong. Means that, until then, the Ka, produced in São Bernardo, and the Fiesta Rocam (older model), made in Bahia, will also be replaced.
Competitors. Global vehicles are those produced in several countries on a same platform, i.e. are equal in all markets, with some adaptations, such as the case of Brazil, where the engines are flex.
Golfarb informs you that the new Fiesta hatch, whose price will only be released in the next few weeks, will have as its main competitors Hyundai and Chevrolet HB20 Onix (in versions with engines over 1.0), because the model of Ford will have 1.5 and 1.6 engines. The competitors are priced in the range of $ 40 thousand.
"The Compact is the largest segment of the auto industry in Brazil, with approximately 75% of sales, and the most fiercely disputed" Golfarb said. It reports that the company expects to double or triple the sales of the model. The Mexican version, were sold last year to 21.3 thousand units, and more 10.3 thousand version sedan./Cs
