Mercedes will invest ' strong ' in truck and bus until 2015

SÃO PAULO-after confirming the construction of a car factory of r $ 500 million in Iracemápolis (SP), last week, Mercedes-Benz will announce in the next day, 27, a new investment plan for units of trucks and buses in the country. According to the Chairman of the automaker in Brazil, Philipp Schiemer, the value will be less than $ 1.5 billion of the current investment plan, in the triennium starting in 2010, but the period will be shorter, i.e. for the biennium 2013-2015.
"In the last plan was included the construction of the factory in Juiz de Fora (MG), but no doubt will be again a strong value because we believe in the Brazilian market," said Schiemer, after participating in the Congress of the society of automotive engineering (SAE) 2013 Brazil, in São Paulo, on Wednesday, 09. The Executive indicated that part of the investment will be directed to expand the nationalization of Actros, extra-heavy model assembled from 2012 in the mining town. In addition to Juiz de Fora, Mercedes produces commercial vehicles in Sao Bernardo do Campo.
Schiemer claimed to be optimistic with the truck market in the country, especially with the Government's plan to improve the infrastructure and logistics, in addition to the constant demand for transport of agricultural crop. "The big deal of the country will be able to play for the infrastructure investment plan and the Government has shown great interest in this."
