ABComm Evaluates data protection act

The Brazilian Association of Commerce (ABComm) ruled in relation to the general law of Data Protection (LGPD). The entity considers the adoption of the law and evaluates a specific legislation to safeguard user information was required. The LGPD provides greater control of citizens over their personal information, by requiring explicit consent to collection and use of data, and requires the provision of options for the user to view, edit and delete such data. If approved by the presidential sanction, the public and private sectors will have 18 months to follow the rules determined by the new legislation.
