Keep air resumed slow with second consecutive high of 3.2%

After 19 consecutive falls, positive outcome of March and April may indicate best moments for national companies. Pre-crisis level, however, is far from being achieved
São Paulo-in April, for the second consecutive month, the Brazilian Airlines achieved a slight growth in domestic demand, ending, for now, a successive cycle retractions. Still, the low basis of comparison indicates that the sector may be far from coming back to the pre-crisis level.
In April, according to the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear), domestic demand for air transport (number of paying passengers per kilometer flown) had growth of 3.2% in comparison with the same month of 2016. On the same basis of comparison, the offer (available seats per kilometres flown) was released of 2%. In the period, the total number of passengers carried was 6,910,000, or 2.82% growth. Data is referring to the Avianca, blue, Gol and Latam.
"It seems that two trends may be over. The first is that businesses have stopped cutting flights and frequencies, and the second is the fall in demand ", analyzes the partner of ASBZ and Aviation expert, William Amaral. According to him, the scenario must still be analysed with caution-due to the high degree of volatility in this market, but the prospect is that if no other big political event occur, the industry can maintain the growth trends in the coming months, even though still shy. On the possible impact of the political scenario marked recently by JBS-tipoff, the expert points out that there is still no worrying signs that reach directly the sector. "Of course some normative advances that were under discussion (such as the opening of 100% of foreign capital in national airline) end up taking longer, before a row of urgent matters".
According to him, the risk that events could bring the airlines go beyond demand-related impacts. One factor that can affect directly the sector is the high American coin, which impacts the operating cost-very '' dollarized ''-of the companies. "The concern always, because it influences the trips abroad and hurts the dollar debt [as fuel, maintenance and operating leasing], but still at levels that people perceive as under control. Still no mention in a significant impact. If other events occur, is worrisome, "he argues.
According to the data of Abear, Gol is with the largest domestic market share, with 35.27% of demand, followed by Latam with 33.04%, blue (18.93%) and Avianca (12.76%).
In April, Brazilian Airlines (Avianca, blue, Gol, Latam and Latam Cargo) transported 24360 tonnes of cargo; the result represented a pullback of 8.17% in comparison with the same period in 2016.
International market
In the international segment, the demand in April had a growth of 17.37%, compared to the same month of 2016. In the same comparison, the offer was discharged of 11.9%. In absolute figures, the volume of passengers was 636,860 people, or 18.03% growth. "That''s not to say that the international market grew in this proportion. What the result indicates is that with the departure of the foreign, the Brazilian captured part of demand ", analyzes Adeniyi.
In this market, the participation of Latam has been by far the largest, with 77.61% of demand, followed by Gol (11.16%), blue (11.11%) and Avianca (0.12%).
In the same thread, the companies reached 15040 tonnes of cargo transported in April, take 3.45% increase in comparison with the same month of 2016.
Leaving a little of the domestic market, ASBZ''s lawyer points out that the Outlook for the international airlines are also not bad. "Before the tour (tipoff of JBS last week) foreign women already talking about resumption of part of frequencies left and while the plans are still".
According to him, as the set was already unstable and the information policies already occurred a while, international companies hoped that some events could come to the fore. "It''s sad, but somehow in an unstable setting, these events can be viewed with a certain normalcy. Can redo the tests a few times, but cancel the positive decision I don''t think ".
