Easter sales have worse performance in ten years, says Serasa

Easter was not sweet for Brazilian trade. In week 21, the date March 27, sales dropped 9.6 percent compared to the same period in 2015. Over the weekend, the fall was of 9.9 percent on the same comparison. The industry''s worst performance since at least 2007, when the historical series of Serasa.
In the city of São Paulo, the fall of sales in Easter week was even sharper, of 11.6%. Over the weekend, the result was "less worse", with indentation of 8.4%.
In a statement, the Serasa asserts that "the deepening economic recession, which put unemployment in elevation trajectory, and the fall of consumer purchasing power due to inflation, negatively impacted retail movement during the commemorative date of Easter this year".
