Dairy Scala invests in State-of-the-art logistics complex

The Dairy Scala, headquartered in Sacramento, in the High Paranaíba, is investing in a logistics complex in the city, which will feature (CD) distribution center, warehouse and logistic analysis processes, aiming at improving the productivity and delivery system of the company. The project, which is being built in an area of 35000 square meters, will feature approximately of 10500 square meters of constructed area and will be ready by the middle of next year.

Although it does not disclose the amount being invested for strategic issues, processes and projects coordinator in the Dairy Scala Darley Ferreira, explains that own resources are being used and financed. According to him, the forecast is that in March 2017 are started the tests in the new storage area and to start operations shortly thereafter, in April.

Only the CD will occupy a built area of 7000 square meters and accommodate all products finalised the dairy, which has three factories in the region, and two in Sacramento and one in sponsorship. For that, automated systems for handling and storage of materials are being developed in partnership with the Japanese company Daifuku. "It will be a kind of automated warehouse", summarizes.

Even as Fernandez, the structure will include a temperature-controlled environment, varying between 1° C and 10° C, considered ideal for the storage of products such as cheese, requeijões and butter.

The option for the construction of the enterprise took place by the need to free up space in the manufacturing area, in order to increase the efficiency of the storage and preparation of orders.
"We want to increase our logistics processes, the growth of our market share, around 10% per annum, was what motivated us to invest in a solution that could give us the control and logistics efficiency with high standards of quality and freshness to our products", says Ferreira.

The warehouse, in turn, will have around 3500 square meters of constructed area and focus all the inputs of the productive process and packaging. "The idea is to improve the distribution and receipt of materials to the factories," he says.

Currently, the Dairy Scala manufactures 42 different products in a range of 2300 tons per month, which are sold to different regions of the country. The main markets, however, are in Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.

With regard to business performance in 2016, the Director States that, like most of all national sectors, felt the impact of the economic recession. However, he considers that the results are still positive and that there will be growth in business at the end of this fiscal year over the previous year.
